Subtitle Translation

Good subtitles go unnoticed. They match the tone and rhythm of the original, sound natural in English, and never compete with the story on screen.

Every file I deliver comes with translator’s notes. Where I’ve reworked a joke, adapted a name or rephrased a line, I explain what I changed and why, so producers and reviewers in Japan can check my work with confidence.

I keep a glossary and style sheet for every project, so names, terms and each character’s voice stay consistent from the first episode to the last.

On larger projects, I can also create and time the subtitle shell by hand, checking every cut against the footage so subtitles appear and disappear exactly when they should.
