Editing & Cultural Review

I review and edit subtitles, dubbing scripts and fiction translated from Japanese.

I check every line against the Japanese, correcting errors and mistranslations, smoothing awkward phrasing, and making sure each character’s voice stays consistent, so the dialogue sounds like something people would actually say while keeping the meaning and intent of the original.

I also look at the cultural choices behind the translation. Should ‘takoyaki’ stay ‘takoyaki’, or become ‘octopus dumplings’? Do you want to keep ‘-san’ and ‘senpai’, translate them, or convey them through tone instead?

You’ll receive the edited file with all the changes marked, plus comments explaining any significant edits and why I made them.
